Lalor Park Community Garden

? Welcome to the Lalor Park Community Garden

Our Community Garden is a welcoming, volunteer-run space where locals can come together to grow food, share knowledge, and build strong community connections.

We are located right next to the Lalor Park Library and community hall in Lalor Park. The garden has grown since 2010 into a place where people of all ages , backgrounds and skill levels can come together to enjoy the space. That might look like getting onto the tools, exploring the bug life with classmates or relaxing with a cuppa.

We promote community wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and local food resilience by growing vegetables, fruit trees, herbs, and flowers. We welcome everyone from experienced gardeners to complete beginners

Why join our garden

Being part of a community garden is a chance to slow down, connect with others, and enjoy the simple pleasure of growing food together. It’s a welcoming space to learn about growing your own produce , share knowledge, and build friendships with people from the local community.

Getting involved can mean many things — tending a bed, lending a hand at a working bee, preparing a meal, joining in creative projects or community events, or simply spending time outdoors. Gardening also offers gentle exercise, fresh air, and a chance to unwind, while helping create a healthier, more connected community.

How we work

The garden is open two mornings a week. Members join in with the day’s garden tasks – to the best of their ability, learn and share skills and finish off with a cuppa. Once a month we will hold a “Working Bee” to tackle some of the bigger jobs that might require all hands on deck

Visitors to the garden can become members for a small fee and in return will share in the harvest. Whatever produce is picked or harvested on any given garden day is shared amongst the attending members.
